Calcite is one of the most common minerals on the planet, but blue calcite is more rare. Polished blue calcite is often sold as celestite, but it is a very different mineral. 

Blue calcite is a gentle, comforting stone that helps to open the throat chakra and facilitate calm communication.  It can calm frayed nerves and bring peace in times of stress. It is also said to help with memory and learning.
